Matteo Bocelli becomes the world’s first ambassador of the San Miniato hills truffle

Excellence calls excellence. Matteo Bocelli has been chosen as ambassador in the world of the Tuscan truffle. The appointment, promoted by the Municipality of San Miniato and the San Miniato Promozione Foundation, highlights not only his talent, but also the determination and dedication he has shown toward the territory during his tours around the world. A symbol of Italian-ness, in short, just like the product of this Tuscan land of which he is now a global testimonial.
The appointment of the singer, son of the celebrated Andrea, launches the “Colline Sanminiatesi” project, a communication strategy designed to promote tourism and enhance the local food and wine sector. Through the collaboration of 30 Tuscan municipalities with a truffle-growing vocation, between Pisa, Florence and Empoli, this Italian excellence will be celebrated in November at the 55th White Truffle Market Exhibition of the San Miniato Hills.
“I’ve been going to look for truffles in the Tuscan hills since I was 14,” Matteo recalled, remembering the old outings with family friend Fausto Fiorentini and now also in the company of his little dog Tosca, named in honor of Puccini. Despite his many commitments, the young Bocelli still keeps alive the tradition of going into the woods every time he returns home, to Lajatico, a temple of music since his father created the Teatro del Silenzio there.
